About NB-IoT

NB-IoT is a low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) technology that enables IoT devices to communicate over cellular networks. It is designed for applications that require small amounts of data, long battery life, and wide coverage. Some of the benefits of NB-IoT are:

Country wide coverage provided by Mobile Network Operators (MNO“s), that co-exists with existing 2G, 3G, and 4G networks.
200kHz NarrowBand communications mean high density per cellular tower, supporting up to 50,000 devices per cell.
Deep indoor and rural coverage, with a link budget of up to 164 dB.
Low SIM cost with optional SIM chip that provides high security and reliability.

NB-IoT is suitable for many applications ranging from smart metering, smart parking, smart agriculture, smart city, to asset tracking and environmental monitoring.

Standardized by 3GPP and supported by major mobile operators and device manufacturers, as of September 2019, there were approximately 180 operators worldwide in 81 countries.
