More about Photo Resistors / LDRs (Light Dependent Resistors)
A Photo resistor, sometimes known as Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) is a resistor whose resistance value decreases as light intensity increases. In other words, it exhibits photoconductivity. Photocells can simply be described as a resistor that changes its resistive value (in ohms) depending on how much light is shining onto its surface.
We offer photo resistors / LDRs (Light Dependent Resistors) which use Cadmium Sulphide. These offer high sensitivity to illumination making them ideal for use in automatic sensing and switching devices. We also offer an alternative to cadmium, our LSL100 “Light Cell” solution. These sensors are small, inexpensive, low-power, easy to use and highly durable.
Sensors such as these can be used in dynamic compressors together with a small incandescent lamp or light emitting diode to control gain reduction.
